This would've been a five star if not for all of the editing errors (missing words, transpositions, wrong words used, etc.). As is, I'm giving it four and ahalf stars because everything else about it is fantastic.Lucy Kendall is a former social worker who quit the system when child pedophiles kept going free because of legal loopholes. Since then she's obtained her PI license and been on a quest of her own choosing - finding and killing these repeat offenders before they can destroy any other lives. Lucy practices justice like they did in the Old West - vigilante style.
But killing - even for honorable reasons - is taking a toll on her psyche. Then someone discovers her secret.
Chris tags along with Lucy in hopes of stemming his own fascination with serial killers - and he has secrets of his own he can't keep in the closet. When another neighborhood child goes missing, Lucy and Chris discover there are worse things out there on the World Wide Web - and they're in a race to bring down this child trafficking site before another little girl is lost in the ether forever.
Such dark subject matter we have here, but handled so well without short-circuiting and holding back too much or going over the cliff and showing us everything so awful about such a topic. The plot and pacing races along, just as a thriller should. Point-of-view is handled well without a bunch of head-hopping in each scene. Then we are shown all the way along the gut-wrenching ride instead of resorting to a bunch of telling or info-dumping. This book has everything a great thriller should have. Like I said, four and ahalf stars from me.
Content warning: Because we're dealing with the subject of child pedophiles and human trafficking of children, it's difficult to read at times and the emotions it brings out (especially for someone who has been abused) can be devastating. There's also plenty of language and a few uses of strong language (which seemed a bit overreaching and unnecessary at times), so be aware if you dare.

I'm a victim of child abuse.
Let me start by saying that much so you understand how hard it was for me to read this book and not break down. Which I did do. About three times.
We start with Lucy. A retired CPS worker turned PI with a soft spot for children- largely because of her sister.
She poisons child molesters. Which I applaud her for. She catches the case of a missing child, a suspect just happens to be her first case at CPS and she wants to believe it's him.
You have to read to truly get a grasp for the book. It's amazing even though it's heartbreaking for abuse survivors, of any kind.
This is the first of Stacy Green's work that I've read, and she's officially a new favorite. Great writing. Complex characters made more powerful because of their emotional scars. Great twists and turns, but that major plot twist came as a complete surprise. Loved it and will definitely be reading more of her work.
Stacy Green's book, All Good Deeds was an interesting read, but I am caught in a quagmire regarding my response to the story. Here is why
The 4 stars are for a story written pretty well. Although it bogged in the middle, I found myself highlighting 3D word paintings in the text. Phrases like "making the fall colors of the trees shimmer in reds and golds like some beautifully mixed up rainbow," and "...but she struck me as defensive. Not in the sense that she was guilty, but that she had a personal space issue. Reaching out would probably make her feel worse." These and other phrases in this story breathe life into this work.
Breathe life into this work. Now that is ironic to those who've read this story, because we know the main character.
I've read all the 1 star comments and personally feel most of those reviewers struggled with rewarding or sanctioning the good portrayed in the main character's vigilante behavior. I agree with them.
But, to me the stars indicate how well the book is written. Let's take for example the classic, Robin Hood, a story that justifies stealing, (a crime), the personal belonging of those who are wrongfully rich, (in his mind), and giving said items to the poor because the legal system would not solve the problem. Readers have enjoyed this story to the point they side with Robin Hood. Well, All Good Deeds is a Robin Hood story. The main character commits a terrible crime to stop others from committing what she feels is a worse crime because the legal system would not solve the problem.
Now you get to be the judge. As for me, I ranked this book 4 stars because, yes, it could have been written a tad better, and because I like Robin Hood.
Assuming you can accept the idea of a vigilante serial killer who is actually one of the good guys due to the fact she only murders male pedophiles who have managed to slip more or less unscathed through the hands of the Justice system, this might very well be a great series for you.
The writing is competent, the plot line not overly bizarre. Pure coincidence leading to solutions plays more of a role than ingenuity, and I found the secondary characters more compelling than the heroine. That being said, I never was much of a Dexter fan either.
However, this was very readable and I suppose if you are ready to embrace the idea of a female serial killer (which is pretty rare), the situation presented does offer a logical reason why a female could become a unrepentant serial killer.
I personally will not be continuing the series.
It was good, a normal, completely forgetable afternoon read. I was enjoying it, though. When the mystery was solved I was left angry and very very disappointed. The plot is ok. What a pity that the author felt the need for leaving things unresolved. It would have been a much better work if she had shown more respect for the readers that were looking for a good story and found themselves with a cliffhanger
